Silk Museum & paradise Mill:
the history and heritage of Macclesfield
Consultation
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU
The Silk Museum needs your help.
Our mission is to celebrate and share the extraordinary story of Macclesfield and it’s community; a story of creativity, industry and enterprise. We are asking for your input to help us make sure that the museum is relevant, accessible, enjoyable and sustainable.
Feedback from this process will feed into short term actions (things we can do now), our programme of events for 2026, and our 5 year strategy. It will also help us secure funding to make big changes.
It is important that this planning is shaped by the people who live in Macclesfield – whether you are a regular visitor or didn’t even know we existed before today – we want to hear from you!
cOMPLETE OUR SURVEY
Please complete our survey.
The survey will close on 14 December at 5 pm.
A report detailing the findings of the survey, and other areas of consultation, and proposed future actions will be shared on this page from the 19th January 2026.
Key points will also be shared on the Silk Museum social media channels and e-newsletter.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
This consultation will directly feed into the short and long-term strategies for the museum, and future funding applications. Future investment in the museum, and increased visitor numbers, will improve the museum’s resilience and secure its future. An improved museum offer and programme will help everyone celebrate the rich heritage of Macclesfield.
Your contributions will help us understand what activities are most attractive and how we can encourage more people to visit.
