The Silk shop
Celebrating the very best in contemporary textile design, our gift shop features an inspiring collection of scarves and fashion accessories by British and local artisans. Our Made In Paradise brand showcases Jacquard fabrics woven in Paradise Mill, we also have a selection of handcrafted jewellery, greetings cards, heritage up-cycled homewares and books inspired by our museum collections.
Scarves & Wraps
Our collection includes woven scarves by internationally renowned designer Margo Selby, Ladycrow Silks, who create fabulous crinkled scarves in jewel-like colours and Liberty silk loops and hand-painted Devoré velvet scarves by Diane Jones. We also stock printed silks by Quintessential and hand-painted works of art by the local artist Ruth Lear, together with a lovely range of Kantha stitch scarves and wraps.
Jewellery & Accessories
Our handcrafted jewellery ranges include the work of talented local designers such as Liz Hamman who works with paper and textiles, Caroline Shaw who up-cycles broken vintage china into fabulous wearable jewellery and Claire Gorton who creates ceramic jewellery, plus an exciting range of felt accessories by British designer Lynsey Walters.
Made In Paradise
Using fabric woven on our jacquard looms we make silk covered buttons, earrings and cufflinks, an ideal way to take a little piece of Macclesfield silk home with you.
Silk Ties & Handkerchiefs
We are proud to stock silk ties and printed silk handkerchiefs by local manufacturer R A Smart. If you’re lucky you might also find a vintage Macclesfield silk handkerchief amongst our selection, increasingly rare but we do still occasionally find them.
GIfts, Interiors & Crafting
Our creative gift ideas include flower vases, purses, cushions and interior products, including lamps and candlesticks created using heritage shuttles and pirns, together with crafting silks, button-making and sewing products for artists and craftspeople.
Books
Our books are inspired by the museum collections, including various titles on textiles, fashion, the silk road, button-making and William Morris, together with Eygptology and the work and life of internationally renowned Macclesfield born wildlife artist Charles Tunnicliffe.
